Lithium Technologies Hires Rob Tarkoff From Adobe to Become CEO

Lithium Technologies Inc., a maker of social-media marketing software, hired former Adobe Systems Inc. (ADBE) Senior Vice President Rob Tarkoff to replace co-founder Lyle Fong as chief executive officer. Tarkoff, 42, was previously head of Adobe’s digital enterprise business, which had annual sales of more than $1 billion, the statement said. Before that he worked at EMC Corp. Fong is staying on the board and assuming the position of chief strategist, the Emeryville, California-based company said today in a statement.

Lithium vies with Jive Software Inc. and Salesforce.com Inc. (CRM) in the market for products that help companies engage with customers through social networks. Clients include AT&T Inc. (T), Barnes & Noble Inc. and Best Buy Co. Lithium, founded in 2001, is backed by venture firms including Shasta Ventures, Emergence Capital Partners, Benchmark Capital and DAG Ventures.
